Reflect on a time when you paused to appreciate the beauty of nature, much like the speaker in “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening.” Where were you, what did you notice, and how did that moment of stillness make you feel or change your perspective?

One time that I paused to take in the nature around me was at horseback riding. At my barn, there is this mini lake and I love to walk around it on my horse. One of these days, it was the perfect weather, I had a really good ride, and the sun was at the perfect golden hour. I was walking along and paused for a moment to really look around and appreciate everything around me. It was so beautiful and peaceful. I wanted to live in that moment forever. Today in class we started our one pager poem projects I learned about another one of  Robert Frost's poems.

Describe a time when you had to set or respect a boundary with a friend, family member, or classmate. How did it help or hurt your connection with that person?

One example of me having to see a boundary with a friend was when I had to come to the hard decision that I couldn't be as active as I would like in our friendship. I had a lot going on at school and at home. While I was dealing with that, she would still call me everyday for hours and talk about the same thing over and over. I didn't have the time nor the mental capacity to try and help her everyday while ignoring my own issues. When I explained this to her, she wasn't very happy about it and still tried to keep close contact with me. I kept trying to distance myself while still remaining respectful and kind. As I started to step away from our relationship, I made the harsh realization that our relationship wasn't healthy. She texted me one day asking why we weren't friends anymore and I had to explain my reasoning. When I told her that I was having a hard time with life and realized that we should probably keep some more distance, she said she never wanted to spe...

Write about a time when something in your life changed more quickly than you expected. How does this experience connect to Frost’s idea that “Nothing gold can stay”?

This year during August right when school started, I had gotten some news that had changed my life forever. I was informed that I could no longer go horseback riding like I used to. I never thought that I would have to give up riding during high school against my wishes. I never got any heads up or a warning, just one day I was told that the next day would be my last day riding regularly. My life has never changed that fast before in my life.  Today in class we annotated a poem with the class and one on our own I learned that it is ok sometimes to take the "different" routes in life.

As we think about our upcoming Vocabulary Monday, tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your favorite word and how often do you use it?

My favorite word (it's more of a phrase) is Awesome Sauce . Whenever someone tells me something good that has happened to them, I will say, "that is so awesome sauce". When someone is telling me about something bad in a joking manner I will also say, "that is so awesome sauce". Yes I know that this is a silly word / phrase but I find that it really helps to lighten the mood and makes whomever laugh. I say it so much now that the people around me, who I am close with, have also started to say awesome sauce .  absent absent

Think about the role of imagination in your own life. How does imagination help you cope with challenges, boredom, or stress?

Imagination has helped me cope with everything in my life. When I am bored, I let my imagination run wild. When I am stressed, my mind continues to flow. When I am doing a project or assignment and I need to think, my imagination continues to keep going and help me out.  Absent Absent

After reading “Out, Out—” by Robert Frost, reflect on a time when you faced a dangerous or high-pressure situation that demanded your complete focus. What made the situation risky, and how did your concentration affect the outcome?

One situation that comes to mind when I reflect about a high concentration situation was my drivers test. I wanted to take my test in my car that I got on my 16th birthday but, my car has been in and out of the shop since then. When it finally came back out of the shop, the battery had died again. Finally I just decided to take the test in my step dads car. I had barely driven his car before and had not driven in months. I had a chance to practice one time before my mom and I walked into the place to take my test. I was super nervous. First this being a new car, and I always blank when put in high pressure situations. I ended up passing my test with a 100.  Today in class we annotated a poem and worked on a writable I learned about a boy who cut his hand off with a saw.

Write about what you did over fall break

Over fall break, I worked, hung out with my boyfriend, and saw my best friend. I had a good time catching up with them and being able to see them for more than just a couple of hours after school. I do enjoy my job too. It is a easy and nice work place.  Today in class we worked on paper with the computers being down I learned about how involved Amazon is with our every day lives

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on?

Some things that I do to enjoy my day is talk to my boyfriend, do art related things, or take a break and go on my phone. I have a chaotic home life and when I talk to my boyfriend, he helps show me what a normal healthy relationship is like. Ever since I was a kid I have always loved doing art. I love to draw, bedazzle, etc. I have done millions of crafts and I still have so many more I want to do. Doing crafts brings me peace and keeps me calm. Lastly, I like to scroll on my phone. It is a way for me to escape from life when I am feeling tired or lazy. It is a nice mindless break from everything. Today in class we worked on the story Ambush  I learned more about how to write an argumentative paragraph

Describe a time when someone's words had a lasting impact on you

One time that someone's word had a lasting impact on me was when I was told that I was going to be a leader in JROTC.  I have always had a hard time believing in myself and when they told me that I was important and seen it shocked me. I didn't think I was ready nor capable of being a good leader. When I told my sergeants that, they told me that they believed in me and could see greatness in me. I have never had anyone ever say that they believe in me. To this day I still continue to remember them telling me that.  Today in class we worked on stating why evidence was not correct/not real evidence. I learned the difference between good and bad evidence.

Write about a moment when you had to step out of your comfort zone.

One of times I had to step out of my comfort zone is whenever I have to give a public speech. I hate speaking in front of large groups of people. I always forget what I am saying and mess up when I do try to speak. Over the years I have gotten a little bit better but I still to this day struggle with it.  Today in class we worked on a writable assignment I learned the story about a man who fought in the Vietnam war.

Write about a dream that felt real

Last night, I had a dream that my ex best friend and I got into an argument. A few weeks ago, I came to the realization that my best friend was being toxic and not a good friend. I texted her about it and she said she never wants to talk to me again. Fast forward to last night, I was asleep and I had a dream about her. In the dream, I called her out on everything she did that was hurting me. I woke up and realized that everything that I had said and done was not real. absent absent

Write about something you have always been curious about

One thing I have always been curious about is why we humans have never fully explored the ocean. Everyone is willing and eager to go and explore space but what about our own planet. Everyone wants us to keep pushing to put the first man on Mars but I believe that we should explore our own planet first before venturing out farther. That is one thing I am curious about is why we haven't and what is down in the ocean? absent absent

Write about the greatest gift you have ever received.

The best birthday present I have ever received was hand written birthday cards. I love handwritten birthday cards more than anything. They mean more than any other gift I have received. They come from the heart and I am able to hear it from their own words. absent absent

Write about a conversation that changed you

One conversation that changed me was finding out that my dad had made some stupid decisions that would affect my life forever. Because of these decisions, he is about to face time in federal jail. He had lost all of his money, causing me to have to take a step back from horseback riding. When he lost all of his money, I also found out that he had taken all of my siblings and I's savings/college funds. When I tried to ask him about it, he was in denial and won't admit it. The only thing that I have ever wanted to do in life was do horseback riding, and now I can't. That conversation will forever haunt me. We worked on writing an argumentative paragraph I learned about formal and informal language
