 This experience of writing an essay helped to boost my confidence as a writer. For a while now, I have been in a writing slump. I don't like to write creatively nor do I enjoy it. I am bad at it and I can never come up with things to write. This essay though, helped me a lot. I haven't written an essay in a long time, so this was a nice change. The only other recent time that I have written an essay was in Ap American History. I do struggle with writing essays in that class though. I can read and concentrate anymore. I don't know what happened. I used to love to read and I would everyday for hours. Then I just couldn't focus one day. My focus never came back. That is why I am struggling with writing complicated AP essays. This essay though really helped me a lot. I love to write and I am glad that Mr. Rease has helped to reignite my love for writing and hopefully reading again.

What metaphor would you use to describe your own mind?

 My mind is like a battlefield. Every day, all of my feelings, thoughts, and desires all face each other. It is a constant battle to see who is right. My mind is never calm, it is always thinking about something, or trying to figure something out. Every day, I have to have this battle to see if my negative or positive thoughts will win. Not just daily, but in every scenario I have to see who will win.  Today in class we analyzed more poems by Emily Dickerson. What I learned was I need to work on my deeper thinking skills. I have a hard time focusing on what I am reading so I need to learn to get better with that so I can analyze her poems better.

 One life skill that I have learned in high school is how to manage my time wisely. It has helped me a lot in and out of school. Time management is a very useful skill that everyone will need to learn at some point in their life whether it is for school or not. Some skills that I believe will help me be successful after high school are communication, time management, and learning how to balance everything in my life. All of these skills will help me not only in school but also in life.  Today in class we continued to work on Rhetoric skills. I learned about many new types of Rhetorics.
